It is a native shrub with attractive pinkish/purple flowers in the autumn. The plant is in leaf all year around and flowers from July to October, the seeds ripen from October to November.
Fruit: Tea can be made from the flowering stems.
Timber: The dried branches are a good fuel.
Soil Types / Habitat: It prefers acid soils and marshy ground. Good ground cover in woodlands. Plant in sunny position for best flower colour.
