Chaenomeles Japonica (Quince)- This small hardy shrub is ideal for bringing spring and summer colour to any garden setting. Its small but vibrant red flowers shower the thorny shrub before maturing into yellow rounded fruit (quinces) which can be used to make jellies and jams. Overall, a fairly undemanding shrub, easy to grow and the pollen rich flowers are ideal for attracting bees.
Fruit: The quince fruit is closely related to the pear.
Soil Types/Habitat: Will happily grow in most soil types and habitats, although it does best in sunny locations.
