Chemaecyparis Lawsoniana (Lawson Cypress)-. Growing up to 50meters tall with a narrow, column like habit, the Lawson Cypress displays an impressive show of leathery like blue/green leaves, which give off a distinct aroma, not unlike parsley. A very versatile tree, the Lawson Cypress can look fully at home in a variety of situations, ranging from an ornamental street tree to a forestry tree, to a wind break or hedging plant. A very low-nutrient requiring tree, which tolerates shaded conditions very well.
Cones: Round brown woody cones with scales containing tiny brown winged seeds.
Timber: When grown as a forestry tree, it produces soft but durable timber, often used to make cupboards as the scented wood deters moths.
Soil Types/Habitat: Will grow well in poor and exposed sites, as well as in shades conditions.
