Cornus Alba (Dogwood)- A large ornamental shrub which boasts spectacular autumn colours, making it very popular among landscapers and avid gardeners. Dogwood is known for its bright red cane-like stems, which emerge during the autumn and stay until the oval foliage appears in the spring time. Dogwood responds very well to being cut back, and it is common practice to cut the shrub back to ground level at the end of the winter, to help encourage the growth younger brighter shoots. A very popular plant, which is especially attractive around water ways or plant boarders.
Fruits: The fruits are white with a hint of blue. Very bitter to the taste.
Soil Types: Grows on most sites. It is tolerant to wet conditions.
