Leylandii Castlewellan (Golden Leylandii)- A slower growing alternative to green leylandii, yet will still grow an average of 75-90cm per year. Due to its fast growth rate and tall habit, leylandii are ideal for creating tall screens, but also make impressive standalone specimen trees. Golden leylandii bares feathery needles, which are a green to yellow in colour. The branches grow from the base of the tree to the tip, leaving little, if any bare trunk. A very hardy tree, which will grow in most situations, including coastal areas.
Cones: Produces small cones, yet cannot be grown from seed. Best grown from a cutting.
Timber: The timber can be used for general building work, where the wood is not painted.
Soil Types/Habitat: It grows with a relatively shallow root structure and will tolerate a polluted environment.
