This is the common native bramble, very invasive, gives good ground cover and deters intruders with its thorny stems. It produces fruits known as blackberries or brambles. It also produces white or pink flowers in the summer. The bushes attract butterflies.
Fruit: It produces black fruit which can be eaten and made in to jam, jelly, pies etc. The fruit also attracts wildlife.
Soil Types / Habitat: It will grow in dry and sandy soil. It will grow well in most areas, ideal for planting on slag heaps and areas with debris due to its resistance to pollution.
